Hi I'm new here and wanted to find out if there are any mods available for the JMP series. Its a 1979 100 watt with 5881 valves.
I can get a passable 'brown' sound by using lots of boost but I'd like to get this from the amp without the use of overdrives/boosters etc.
thanks.

deans, correct me if I'm wrong-but isn't that a non-MV amp? There's not a knob on the panel that says master...right? Good luck! My suggestion-outfit the power section with some JJ E34L's and/or buy a second garage to allow you to run it full bore! For these amps to really rock, you've gotta run 'em full blast. Get an attenuator from THD or Weber. I woukdn't go hacking into the amp with any mods. The E34L's (Bob at Eurotubes) would help with some of your tone. I'm thinking an attenuator to let you open this up while controlling the volume.

you can change the location of the currenmt MV and make it a cathode following MV and add those diodes on the back of it with or without a switch. Jose Type Mod very brown sounding.
